Yard & Home Visits

INITIAL ASSESSMENT

While Dawn is called upon to address a wide range of problems the first visit always starts with a comprehensive assessment which can last up to 2 hours.  This includes an analysis of the horse's history, an assessment of the animal's temperament and general behaviour, and whether the animal is currently on any medication.  This process sometimes identifies other physical characteristics or problems which may or may not have been apparent to the owner.  A report of the findings is presented at the end of the visit.

It is vital to take all issues into account as Dawn occassionally identifies physical conditions that she feels are best referred to a vet or other specialist.  In fact as a qualified aromatics professional she advises clients to inform their vets of the visit as a matter of course.  Full records of all visits are kept for this purpose.

If for any reason you are unable to arrange a home/yard visit, then you can arrange to send Dawn a sample of your horses mane or tail hair together with a description of your horses history and current condition, and by using Kinesiology, Dawn can assess and establish which remedies are required to help your horse.  For further information please contact Dawn direct.

OFFERING THE REMEDIES

Dawn has owned horses herself for many years and her clients  often
comment on her remarkable affinity with their animals.  "When Dawn
first visited she was able to establish a rapport with our grey within
seconds", said Jayne Dorrell, who keeps horses near Claverley.  "He
was very attentive and obliging when she entered the stable to examine
him but once the aromatics began his behaviour was extraordinary; if he
approved of a particular scent or taste he'd appear to be lost in reverie for
a minute or two, then he'd come back for another try."

This process of offering different aromatics is continued, constantly
monitoring the reactions and changing the selection until the horse
finds it's preferred medication.  The owner is given detailed instructions
on how to offer the remedies along with guidelines on using the aromatics
safely and Dawn maintains contact with the owner throughout the healing period.

MEMORIES FROM THE PAST

Like humans, horses respond to matters of the here and now, and to experiences from their past.  It's possible for a horse to sense an aroma that triggers a bad memory from the past, potentially giving rise to a dramatic change in behaviour.  Unlike humans, horses don't have the means to rationalize these feelings so they can grow to become a major problem.

It is their sense of smell that guides an animal to its food, its medicine, its young and away from its enemies.  Essential oils transmit information to the mind through inhalation, offering rapid and high absorption from a relatively small dose.  The olfactory nerve is a projection of brain tissue; the nose is the only part of the body where the central nervous system communicates with the outside world.  Studies have shown that within minutes of inhalation, essential oil constituents are detectable in the blood.
