NATURAL REMEDIES FOR EQUINE BEHAVIOURAL PROBLEMS,
AILMENTS & INJURIES
Helping Horses Heal Themselves
Enabling horses to choose and administer their own medicines may sound like a radical
approach, but to Dawn Stone it's the most natural and effective solution to many ailments.
When horses were free to roam they survived remarkably well by instinctively selecting their own
medicines from the plants, herbs, roots and minerals available in the wild. Horses today have lost
the opportunity to graze in nature's pharmacy, but they certainly haven't lost their innate ability to
medicate themselves.
The Aromatics approach enables horses to exercise this instinct by offering a range of essential
oils and plant extracts and closely monitoring their reactions to each. A horse will ultimately select
it's own medication and take as much or as little as is required by using Inhalation (Olfactory
System), Licking (Oral Absorption) and for specific problems such as arthritis, sprains, sweet itch,
mud fever, wounds, sun burn and other similar conditions by allowing the remedy to be applied on
the skin (Topically).
After extensive research on a vast selection of oils and plant extracts we now know
more about which remedy aids the well being of behavioural and physical problems.
Dawn trained and obtained her diploma with Caroline Ingraham Animal Aromatics Institute in April 2006.
